What is STEP?

STEP is a national export initiative through the U.S. Small Business Administration that grants matching funds to states to assist small businesses entering and expanding into international markets. The World Trade Center Providence administers Rhode Island's STEP awards, providing financial assistance and support to eligible small businesses, with the goal of increasing the number of small businesses that export and the value of those exports.
